The Rundown: The family celebrates their first Christmas in a new time and without one of their own.
As the family gets used to living in the past, someone from the future continues to hunt them for the item they escaped with. At the same time, Roland forgets that it is close to Christmas and the family decides to go looking for a tree to decorate the house. A task that becomes complicated when Rae remembers how her grandmother felt about them.
As the family returns home, Roland decides to use technology to create a tree while the rest of the family prepares for the holiday. Unfortunately, Roland’s experiment takes a dramatic turn and the family finds themselves fighting for their lives while trying to keep their secret.
The Story: Tomasi crafts a quaint, engaging story in this issue. It’s a great follow up to the big action of the first issue by setting it during the holidays where the reader gets to not only learn more about the family and their dynamics, but also care about them as people. A consistently fun adventure that I look forward to exploring.
The Art: Manapul delivers some amazing, beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the character designs a lot and the action has a classic comic book feel.
